Karl Kenneth Gholson, 87, of Lampasas died Jan. 29, 2012, at the Temple Veterans Administration Hospital.

Funeral services were Feb. 2 at Sneed Funeral Chapel. Burial with military honors followed at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lampasas.

Mr. Gholson was born Dec. 2, 1924, in Adamsville, the son of R.C. and Esta Mertie Green Gholson.

He served in the U.S. Army for four years during which time he received a Purple Heart.

After his military service, Mr. Gholson worked for Civil Service at Fort Hood in transportation for 34 years.

He was a member of First Baptist Church and was a volunteer firefighter in Lampasas for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Ella Dee Reynolds Gholson; a son, Daniel Risinger and wife, Brenda, of Temple; a nephew; two nieces; three grandchildren; seven greatgrandchildren; and one great-greatgrandchild.
