Republican Women set gathering

The Central Tri-County Republican Women will meet Thursday at 7 p.m. at the home of Janice Kliza, 5197 FM 2313 in Kempner, just north of U.S. Highway 190.

The planned speaker, Duke Johnson, was to share information on concealed handguns, but the program was rescheduled to April 5 at 7 p.m.

The program at the upcoming meeting will include presentations by candidates for the U.S. Senate seat.

Ten candidates have filed with the Republican Party.

Following the presentations, a straw poll will be conducted.

In addition, the group plans to discuss the precinct convention, county convention and the state conventions.

All interested conservatives are invited to attend. Women may become active or supporting members for $30 a year. Men and women in other Texas Federated Republican Women's organizations can be associate members for $15-per-year dues.

For directions or more information, phone Mrs. Kliza at (979) 531-9370 or Peggy Thompson at (254) 547-4881.
