The Lady Badgers traveled to Brownwood and lost in three games, 21-25, 15-25 and 19-25.

Coach Beth Rutland said the team had too many unforced errors, and gave up roughly 12 unearned points per game.

“We just simply beat ourselves,” Rutland said. “At times we would play hard and make some good defensive plays. But Brownwood is a scrappy team, and they do whatever they can to keep the ball in play. But we knew that going into the game.

“Twelve unforced errors a game is just killing; it doesn’t matter who we play.”

Rutland added that the team has been going through some “hot and cold” moments so far this season, meaning the Lady Badgers will look great one day, then for some reason will take a step back in their progress the next day.

One positive Rutland mentioned that can come from Tuesday’s game is that the Lady Badgers kept fighting. The coach said in the past, when the team hasn’t played up to its potential, she gets really down on herself and the team. But she said Tuesday night she was proud of the way her girls kept fighting through the difficult moments.

Lampasas plays next against Dublin at 6:30 p.m. tonight at Badger Gym.
