Young Farmers plan fall activities

Lampasas County Young Farmers met recently at the Lampasas Independent School District agrscience building to put together plans for the fall calendar.

Members will have a Wildlife Management Education Program Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. at the LHS ag building.

As part of the upcoming Lampasas FFA Membership Drive and Potluck Sept. 12 at 6 p.m. at the LHS cafeteria, Young Farmers also will meet to gather more new members and dues.

Dr. Steve Forsythe, LISD Young Farmer adviser, introduced the newYoung Farmer advisers to the group. Ricky Prescott and Courtney Hoff also will work with the local Texas Education Agency-chartered adult agricultural education program.

New members Mitch Ramon, Jeff Rash, Cynthia Smith, Derek Dahkle and Butch Hodges were introduced.

LCYF will operate a concession stand Dec. 3 as part of the annual District FFA Swine Show at the Lampasas County Showbarn. All proceeds will go toward scholarships for county FFA and 4-H members.

Membership benefits and future educational programs were discussed at the recent meeting, and are scheduled to be held on a monthly basis.

At the conclusion of the meeting, refreshments were served and door prizes were won by Toby Zielinski, Prescott and Hodges.

The organization is open to any interested county resident 18 and older.
