Venture Crew 8539 will host an open house Thursday from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Adult Education Building at First Baptist Church, 402 S. Key Ave. in Lampasas. Anyone interested in this scouting program for older youth is welcome to come.

Refreshments will be served.

The open house will include a slide show of past events, an equipment display and presentations about Venturing, VLSC youth leadership training and what the future holds for Venture Crew 8539.

Venturing is a youth development program of the Boy Scouts of America for young men and women 14 years of age (or 13 and have completed eighth grade) and under 21. Venturing provides positive experiences to help young people mature and become responsible, caring adults.

Venture Crew 8539, sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8539, holds meetings every Thursday from 7-8 p.m. at First Baptist Church.
