LMS

The Lampasas Middle School cross country team begins practicing this week.

Practices will be held daily at 6 a.m. and runners are to meet at Bozarth-Fowler Gymnasium.

BASKETbALL

The first meeting of the Slam Dunk Club for the upcoming 2010-11 season will be held Sept. 7 at 6 p.m. in the Lampasas High School library.

All members are encouraged to attend.

The general public and parents of any new players are also invited to attend the meeting.

New Badgers’ head basketball coach Rob Shivers will be in attendance and will discuss his plans for the upcoming freshman, JV and varsity seasons.

Lampasas all-sport athletic passes for the 2010-2011 season are available at the Lampasas High School athletic office.

The pass authorizes entry into all athletic events sponsored by the school district and held in Lampasas with the exception of varsity football games.

In addition to granting the holder access to events, the pass also permits immediate family to attend.

Cost is $75.

The 2010 Football Sweetheart will be announced prior to Lampasas’ home opener against Austin Travis Friday.

Crowning of the winner will take place at 7 p.m.

All Badgers football season ticket holders and fans planning to attend upcoming home games should be aware all regularseason home games will be played at Badger Stadium.

Lampasas begins its five-game home schedule Friday against Austin Travis.

The Badgers will also host Leander Rouse (Sept. 17), Burnet (Oct. 8), Salado (Oct. 22) and Taylor (Nov. 5) this season.

All varsity home games are scheduled to kick off at 7:30 p.m.

SOCCER

The Tri-City Express girls’ soccer team is seeking players ages 14-18 to participate in the upcoming fall season.

The Express competes in the Capitol Area Youth Soccer Association and travels throughout the greater Austin area to compete.

All home matches and practices, however, will be held in Lampasas.

Openings for other teams are also available.

The Lampasas Soccer Association will field teams in the U-12 boys, U-14 boys and U-16 boys divisions. All boys’ teams accept girls to teams and currently have girls on their rosters.

5K

The CASA Speak Up for Kids 5K presented by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas will be held on Sept. 11 at Johnson Park in Marble Falls.

Registration is $28 for the 5K race and $10 for the Kids K race for ages 12 and under.

All proceeds from the race will benefit the Court Appointed Special Advocates of the Highland Lakes area.
