Badgers split subvarsity games
The Badgers’ freshman and junior varsity teams both opened their seasons last Thursday at home against Manor.
After posting a 9-1 record in 2009, the junior varsity team picked up right where it left off by beating the Mustangs 28-0.
Matt Allen recorded two touchdowns in the win, while Ray Galbraith and Ben Henderson each added another.
“You never truly know if all the work you put in over the previous month has paid off until the first game,” head coach Keith Virdell said. “Our kids played really hard and really well, dominating on offense, defense and special teams.
“This was a great first win for us.”
The freshmen did not have as impressive an opening night, falling 16-0.
After going back and forth for the majority of the contest, a couple of miscues late in the game led to the Badgers’ loss.
The subvarsity teams each play Austin Travis Thursday with the freshmen hosting and the junior varsity traveling.
Both games will start at 6 p.m.
