AMVETS member named state commander
Ad Frank
Ad E. Frank, a member of AMVETS Post 80 in Lampasas, recently was elected state commander of AMVETS’ Department of Texas.
As commander, Frank coordinates membership drives, helps direct Americanism programs, oversees general AMVETS functions and provides guidance for support programs that assist military personnel who recently have returned from tours overseas.
He also is Texas AMVETS’ head volunteer services representative at the Veterans Affairs hospital in Temple.
Frank previously served as Post 80 adjutant for two years, post commander for 10 years and first vice commander for one year.
He completed four years of active duty Air Force service — including a tour in Europe, one year in Louisiana and the remainder in San Antonio — from 1956-1960. Frank served in communication intelligence with the 6910th Security Group in Germany and worked in San Antonio with what was then the Headquarters Security Service. He was discharged in 1960 as an airman first class.
