Sign unveiling, information event, reception set at LCHEC

The Lampasas County Higher Education Center will be the site of a reception and other events on Aug. 12. The Lampasas County Higher Education Center will be the site of a reception and other events on Aug. 12. Dr. S. Chuck McCarter, chief operating officer of the Lampasas County Higher Education Center, announced a reception will be Aug. 12 from 4-6 p.m. at the center, 208 E. Avenue B, in the former Lampasas Middle School building.

Representatives from Central Texas College, Texas A&MCentral Texas, Texas Tech and Concordia Austin will be on hand to share information about their programs and to take questions.

The public is welcome to attend.

Also invited are District 54 State Rep. Jimmie Don Aycock, Sen. Troy Fraser, Texas Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples, Congressman Mike Conaway and Governor Rick Perry.

The reception will begin with an unveiling of the new LCHEC sign in front of the building and a welcome from Lampasas Mayor Judy Hetherly. Following that, everyone will proceed inside to tour the new center and visit with college and university representatives.

Light refreshments will be served.

“This is an opportunity for the community to get to know what the Higher Education Center is all about, and for those of us involved with the center to get to know the community. People will be able to talk to representatives from the colleges and universities whose programs we are offering now and will offer in the future,” said McCarter.

The mission of the Lampasas County Higher Education Center is to provide facilities and coordination to accommodate quality career and higher education opportunities for Lampasas County and surrounding counties.
