FFA members travel to state convention

The Lometa FFA Chapter was well represented at the annual State FFA Convention in Corpus Christi July 13-16.

Lometa FFA members recently participated in activities at the FFA State Convention in Corpus Christi. Lometa agricultural science instructor and FFA adviser Brad Barnett took 16 students to the event, where they competed in extemporaneous speaking, Spanish creed speaking and the Ag Science Fair. Several also received Lone Star Degrees and served in the Courtesy Corps.

Lometa senior Cassidy Wienec- ke, who won both the district and area extemporaneous speaking contests, competed in the state finals with an overall fifth-place finish.

Junior Ag Science Fair competitors John Brooks and Gunner Bradley placed third in their division. Mikhaila Barnett, Anthony Resa, and D’Artagnan Logsdon also participated in the science fair.

Other participants included Esmeralda Jaso, who competed in the inaugural competition of Spanish creed speaking.

Receiving Lone Star Degrees were Kylie Bradley, Hannah Purser, Josepha Romero and Cassidy Wienecke.

Serving on the State Convention’s Courtesy Corps were Taylor Mitchell, Samantha Phillips and Whitney Lamb.

Miss Bradley represented Area 7 as an officer, while Miss Mitchell served as a San Saba District officer representative.
