Mrs. Owens

Betty Louise Owens, 80, of Lampasas died July 26, 2010, at her residence.

Funeral services were July 28 at First Baptist Church in Lampasas with Dr. Rick Willis and Jack Shelton officiating. Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lampasas.

Mrs. Owens was born Aug. 2, 1929, in San Benito, the daughter of John W. and Alta Mae Carpenter Tankersley.

She graduated from Freer High School. She married LeRoy Owens on March 20, 1952, in Freer.

Mrs. Owens was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church. She was involved in work with Lampasas Mission.

Survivors include her husband of Lampasas; one son, Travis Owens and wife, Regena, of Lampasas; two daughters, Sherry Porter of Richwood, and Trisa Smith and husband, Jerry, of Lampasas; one brother, Marcus Tankersley of Yorktown; one sister, Dorothy Morgan of Cotulla; eight grandchildren, Jodi Porter, Bo Lockhart, Justin Lockhart, Courtney Owens Ramp, Keith Owens, James Porter, Jina Porter Cash and Ben Lockhart; and nine great-grandchildren, Charity Lockhart, Christopher Lockhart, Emma Lockhart, Jack William Lockhart, Kadin Owens, Kaystin Porter, Kaylie Alexis Ramp, Cameron Ramp and Marli Cunningham.

She was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
