Funeral services for Nicky Daniel Bacon, 64, were July 24, 2010, in North Little Rock, Ark.

Mr. Bacon died July 17 in Rose Bud, Ark.

He was born Nov. 25, 1945, in Caraway, Ark.

Mr. Bacon, a career serviceman, and his wife, Sharron Henry, were living in Copperas Cove when he was stationed at Fort Hood, and he was awarded the Medal of Honor for bravery for service in the Vietnam War. They made the trip to Washington, D.C., to receive the award from President Richard Nixon.

Survivors include his wife, Tamara, and their three sons, James and wife, Traci, Wyatt and Britt; his and Sharron’s daughters, Kimberly Beck and husband, Earl “Buzz” Beck, and Kristy DeKort and husband, Ronald, of Kempner; and a son, William Tonika; grandchildren, Ashlee Brookshire, Garrett Beck, Brooklynn DeKort and Drew DeKort, all local residents, and Gavin Bacon of Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.
