Springing forth

The fourth in the series of Vision Lampasas! murals is under way on the breezeway wall north of the new county office building on Pecan Street. Top photo: Volunteer Katherine Mezger uses the posters -- made by artist and committee member TJ Mabrey -- to match the paint colors as Mrs. Mezger fills in the Lampasas River grid. At right, Colleen Eckermann, chair of VL’s design committee, uses a grid to draw off the city limits of Lampasas after the flood. The 120x12-foot mural, titled “Water is Life,” is expected to be completed in several weeks’ time. It will feature a map of the Sulphur Creek watershed with important geographic and cultural sites along the waterway. Community members are invited to paint on the mural weekdays beginning at 6:30 p.m. PHOTOS BY LISA CARNLEY
