The Lampasas High School golfers each won two tournaments in the span of two days last week and, more importantly, both secured spots in the West Texas Junior Championship Tour Championship.

Lindeman (14-15 boys) and Gonzales (15-18 girls) took first place in their age divisions at Llano River Golf Course last Wednesday before repeating the feat at the Goldthwaite Municipal Golf Course Thursday.

After posting an 80 in Llano, Lindeman collected his fourth tour victory in Goldthwaite by shooting a 74.

Gonzales earned her second and third WTJCT championships with identical rounds of 85 during the twoday gold rush.

The victories guarantee both golfers will join LMS Lady Badger Lauren Beckwith in the tour championship at the Lone Cedar Country Club in Eastland July 29-30. Players receive an automatic bid by winning three tournaments.

Beckwith (12-14 girls) won her seventh consecutive tour title -- in seven attempts -- in Llano by shooting a 78, but her streak of perfection came to an end in Goldthwaite, where she finished in second place behind teammate Morgan Rogers.

Rogers edged out Beckwith by three strokes when she posted a 92 to gain her first tour victory of the summer. The incoming eighth-grader is in first place of her age division with 80 points. The top 15, excluding exemptions, in each division advance to the tour championships.

Also earning tournament titles last week were Stayton Lindeman and Blake Graham.

Lindeman shot a 74 on Llano’s links to pick up the 16-18 boys’ first-place medal, while Graham won the 12-13 boys’ championship in Goldthwaite with a round of 79.

Graham’s LMS teammate Blake January placed second in Goldthwaite with an 81.

In Llano, January earned bragging rights by narrowly beating Graham by one stroke, shooting an 80 to place second, while Graham’s 81 gave him third overall. Trent Holloman finished fifth with a 102.

All three golfers assisted the LMS Badgers in winning their first district championship in 15 years last season.

Both January and Graham are on pace to reach the tour championship. January is ninth in the standings with 75 points (one win), and Graham is 12th (58 points, one win).

Other Lampasas golfers eying a trip to Eastland include varsity Lady Badgers Lauren Davis and Brittany Graham (both 15-18 girls).

Incoming sophomore Davis has accumulated 61 points to go with one victory and sits in sixth place after she followed up her second-place performance (85) in Llano -- losing a playoff to Gonzales -- by tying for fourth at Goldthwaite with a 92.

Graham (41 points) is just 10 points out of 15th place after finishing fourth at Llano (95) and third in Goldthwaite (91).

With only five tournaments remaining, potential Lady Badger golfer Kinsley Lindeman also should reach the tour championship.

Competing in the six to eight coed division, she ranks sixth in her age group with 55 points after placing third in Llano (71) and second in Goldthwaite (66).

In all, Lampasas golfers finished last week’s pair of tournaments with eight championships and placed in the top five of their age groups 20 times with 17 top-three showings.
