A memorial service for J. Robert Bird, 62, of Lampasas is July 17, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Briggs-Gamel- Lampasas Funeral Home.

Mr. Bird died July 13.

He was born July 16, 1947, in Lampasas, the son of the late Clarence and Annie B. Bird.

Mr. Bird attended Lampasas High School and Tarleton State University.

He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and served on the staff of the 1964 National Jamboree at Valley Forge, Pa.

He was a 42-year member of the United Association of Pipefitters and Pipeliners Local 798 Tulsa, Okla.

Survivors include two children, Heather Richard of Slick, Okla., and Chad Bird of Paris, Texas; brothers, David of Spicewood, and Bill Bird of Lampasas; a sister, Dinah Bird-Westerfield of Foster, Ky.; three grandchildren; and two nieces and a nephew.
