Mr. Bayer

Funeral services for William T. Bayer Jr., 79, were July 8, 2010, at Sneed Funeral Chapel in Lampasas with the Rev. Ellen Ely of First United Methodist Church in Burnet officiating. Burial was at Watson Cemetery in Burnet County. He died July 5.

Mr. Bayer was born June 29, 1931, in Austin, the son of William T. Bayer and Genevieve Brack Bayer Sr.

He graduated from Austin High School in 1949 and received a bachelor of science in electrical engineering from the University of Texas in 1957.

Mr. Bayer served four years in the U.S. Air Force.

He held executive positions in GE, Honeywell Control Data, Xerox and Memorex. He retired in 1989 and lived in Georgetown for 12 years and then on his ranch for the past 8 1/2 years.

Mr. Bayer was a member of the Burnet Rotary Club and past-president of the Georgetown Rotary Club.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Georgena Schulze Bayer; three sons, William T. Bayer III and wife, Elaine, Charles L. Bayer and wife, Vicki, and Kenneth G. Bayer and wife, Maria; seven grandchildren; one sister, Gennie Bayer Howard and husband, Paul; one brother, Louis J. Bayer and wife, Sandra; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward D. Bayer Sr. and Robert H. Bayer.

Pallbearers were Mitchell Bayer, Eric Bayer, Kyle Bayer, Cole Bayer, Paul Howard and Sean Tholstrup. Honorary pallbearers were Brittany Bayer Tholstrup, Caitlin Bayer and Kelsy Bayer.

Memorials may be made to Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple or Round Rock, or Oakalla Volunteer Fire Department.
