A rallying cry for Arizona
“Remember the Alamo!” This rallying battle cry in 1836 energized the “Texians” while defeating the Mexican Army led by the flamboyant egoist, General Santa Anna. This victory led to the independent Republic of Texas and, 10 years later, statehood.
Now, 184 years later, our companion state of Arizona finds itself under siege. This time, however, not against Mexico but rather the narcissistic president of the United States and his cadre of lawyers.
Arizona is defending its border and citizenry. Obama is defending the invaders.
On President Obama’s side for support are: California, illegal aliens and drug smugglers. On Arizona’s supporting team are: Arizona state laws, federal law and the United States Constitution.
It behooves us to remember we are a nation founded on the principle that we are under the rule of law, not powerful individuals. Arizona is taking action based upon this principle. President Obama is acting upon his own personal prejudices.
Only time and much wasted taxpayer monies will determine the outcome. I wonder if Arizona will have a rallying battle cry energizing it to victory. I propose: “Remember the Oath!” (Presidential oath upon taking office -- Article 2, section 1, last paragraph, U.S. Constitution)
