City terminates water, wastewater contract with OMI

City to hire staff to operate systems beginning in October

The Lampasas City Council voted 7-0 in a special session Tuesday to end the city's contract with OMI, Inc. -- which manages the city's water and wastewater systems -- effective Oct. 4.

The termination comes in response to a citation the city received from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality for failure to issue a boil-water notice when the level of chlorine residuals in the water system dropped below TCEQ standards.
