Kempner officials remind citizens that the discharge of fireworks is illegal within the city. Police will be vigilant in looking for violators over the Fourth of July holiday period. Warnings no longer are issued. Fines for possession and/or discharge of fireworks can range from $500 to $2,000 for each occurrence, and the fireworks will be confiscated.
