Farm Bureau contests set Saturday

Bree Corley Bree Corley Three Lampasas County young women will vie for the title of Miss Lampasas County Farm Bureau, and one will earn the right to represent the organization at various engagements and competitions. In addition, one girl also will compete in the Talent Find contest.

The contest will be Saturday at 6 p.m. at the Farm Bureau Building on U.S. Highway 281 North.

Nine little ladies will compete for the title of Little Miss, and one boy is vying for the Little Mister title.

Little Miss candidates include Bree Corley, 5, daughter of Jarrod and Krystal Corley; Mikaila Fortner, 6, daughter of Debbie Fortner and the late Mitch Fortner; Allison Martin, 4, daughter of Tammy and Lee Martin; Gracie Martin, daughter of Jacie and Roddy Pippin, and Grady Martin; Haiden McGehee, 4, daughter of Cassidy and Justin McGehee; Kayli Syx, 5, daughter of Jason and Jamie Syx; Kadence Watts, 4, daughter of Bobby and Deann Sanford; Aspen Wheeler, 4, daughter of Shawn and Haley Wheeler; and Jasmine Woodward, 6, daughter of Mike and Chrissie Woodward.

Allison Martin Allison Martin The Little Mister contestant is Braedon Corley, 4, son of Jarrod and Krystal Corley.

Miss Farm Bureau contestants include:

• Katlyn Delp. A junior at Lometa High School in the fall, she is the daughter of Robert and Nora Delp.

Katlyn is an avid gymnast. At 14, she won a level 7 Texas state championship. School activities include FFA, varsity track and powerlifting, varsity cheerleading and a state UIL win in Lincoln Douglas Debate.

Katlyn is a member and secretary of the National Honor Society and is Student Council vice president. She and her cheerleading team qualified for nationals.

She hopes to attend the University of Texas or Abilene Christian University to study occupational therapy.

Gracie Martin Gracie Martin She enjoys teaching gymnastics and being outdoors.

• Kalyn Hayes-Barrington. The daughter of Dusty and Jenifer Barrington, she is 16 and will enter her junior year at Lampasas High School.

Kalyn is the FFA vice president and former secretary. She participates in horse and poultry judging and is a member of the radio team, senior chapter conducting team and on the speech and debate team.

She recently attended the Farm Bureau Leadership Camp, FFA Leadership Camp and the FFA State Convention.

Kalyn’s hobbies include volleyball, team roping and barrel racing. She has won multiple awards, trophies, buckles and saddles with her horse including three world championships.

• Cassidy Wienecke, the daughter of Chris and Cheri Wienecke, will be a senior at Lometa High School this fall. She also is entered in the FB Talent Find contest.

Haiden McGehee Haiden McGehee She is an honor roll student and a member of the National Honor Society. Cassidy recently attended the Farm Bureau Leadership Conference in San Angelo.

In addition, the two-time state champion in UIL extemporaneous persuasive speaking also finished in the top six in FFA extemporaneous speaking in 2009. She will compete for the state FFA title in July.

Cassidy is vice president of the Lometa FFA chapter and competes in numerous speaking events. She is active in and has earned top medal honors at state in One-Act Play, poetry and Cross-Examination Debate.

She plans to attend college and pursue a career in law, specializing in agricultural issues.
