Burn ban takes effect tonight

Violations punishable by fines

The Lampasas County Commissioners Court on Monday morning approved a 90-day ban on outdoor burning in unincorporated areas. The ban takes effect June 28 at 6 p.m.

Cooking in barbecue pits is allowed, as is burning trash in a barrel with a screen on top.

A burn ban violation is punishable by a fine not to exceed $500.
