Barney Terry Dobbs, 87, of Lampasas died June 13, 2010, at his residence. His body will be cremated, and his ashes buried at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.

A memorial service with full military honors is scheduled for early July.

Mr. Dobbs was born May 26, 1923, in Dora, Ala., the son of Barney Lee Dobbs and Mamie Oden Dobbs. He married Barbara Seville McLaughlin on March 18, 1949, in Moline, Ill.

He served in the United States Marine Corps, retiring as a sergeant major.

Mr. Dobbs attended Blackhawk College and graduated from George Washington University. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Lampasas, the Masonic Lodge where he received his 40-year pin and Scottish Rite.

He also served as a deacon of the Moline Baptist Church in Illinois.

Mr. Dobbs is survived by his wife of Lampasas; two sons, F. Gary Dobbs of Arlington and Duane Dobbs of Lampasas; two daughters, Terry Dobbs Monty and husband Mark of New York, and Barbara Sue Dobbs of Lampasas; two sisters, Nella Dean Luckie of Florida and Frankie Sills of Birmingham, Ala.; and four grandchildren, Jeff Monty, Beth Dobbs, Courtney Dobbs and Kathy Dobbs.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Furman Dobbs, and by a sister, Ellon Dobbs.
