Mr. Farcus
Leo C. Farcus, 94, died June 6, 2010, at Spring Oaks Nursing Home after a brief illness.
A memorial service will be held later in Joliet, Ill.
Mr. Farcus was born Sept. 8, 1915 in Joliet. He was employed for 20 years at U.S. Steel and for another 20 years at Argonne National Laboratory until his retirement in 1980.
He and his wife, Mary, moved to Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, in 1986. After 22 years there, Mr. Farcus moved to Lampasas to be with his son and daughter-in-law, and he lived at the Village at Hancock Park until May 2010.
A veteran of World War II, Mr. Farcus served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific aboard the USS Gwin. His memories of the Navy and his sense of humor never left him, nor did his enjoyment of music, animals, old movies and sports.
Mr. Farcus was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
He is survived by his son, Gerald L. Farcus, M.D., and wife Shannon of Lampasas; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death in 2005 by his wife of 64 years; also by four brothers and five sisters, all of Joliet.
