A man of many talents on the diamond, Millican was named the District 25-4A All-District First Team utility player after lining up in all but three positions during his senior season.

Offensively, Millican posted Lampasas’ top slugging percentage (.500), most RBIs and one of the top four batting averages (.286).

“His hitting is what got him there last year, and it’s what got him there this year,” Badgers’ head coach Brian McBeth said. “But we asked him to do a lot this year, and he did a great job.”

In 2009, as a junior, Millican was named to the all-district second team as an infielder.

Vann Millican was named the district’s first-team utility player. Vann Millican was named the district’s first-team utility player. While receiving the accolade is an honor, the accomplishment is especially impressive because the Badgers did not win a single district game during the 2010 season.

“Being an all-district player is a good thing because it means the other coaches in the district recognize that we have some good players [despite our record],” McBeth said.

Millican, however, was not the lone Badger on the list. Joining him were classmates Caleb Lowe and Colin Scheafnocker.

In his first year as a starter, centerfielder Lowe was named to the second team outfield.

Like Millican, Lowe was one of Lampasas’ top offensive threats.

“He had the highest batting average in district for our team (.345),” McBeth said. “He did a great job.”

After his first-team infield selection last season, Scheafnocker capped off his high school career with an honorable mention. He served primarily as a pitcher and first baseman for the Badgers.

“He helped us out a lot, not only at the plate, but he pitched some good innings for us on the mound,” McBeth said.

District award winners included co-MVPs Brad Kuntz of Lake Travis and Hendrickson’s Trevor Seidenberger. Newcomer of the Year was awarded to Hendrickson sophomore Cody Lunsford.

The Cavaliers and Hawks dominated the district list after Hendrickson reached the regional semifinal round of the playoffs and Lake Travis advanced to the regional finals where it lost to state runner-up Corpus Christi Calallen.

In all, the two schools combined to occupy nine of the 18 first-team selections.

Hutto -- who was eliminated from the postseason by Hendrickson in the regional quarterfinals -- finished with five first-team members.
