Garden club's year ends with indoor picnic
The final meeting of the L-M Garden and Civic Club’s year was held recently, and hostesses Pat McGarry and Virginia Hamilton organized an indoor picnic.
Seventeen members, husbands and friends attended and enjoyed a meal. Mrs. McGarry led an entertaining “quiz show” and awarded surprise prizes.
A short business meeting was held, and membership dues were collected.
The group decided to have a float in this year’s rodeo parade. Tico Hicks and Sheri Stone will co-chair the decorating committee. Other committee members are Peggy Jones, Barbara Hampton and Kathryn Butler.
Joyce Hightower gave a brief history of the club’s participation in past parades and presented a dis- play of photos from those parades.
Each year the club presents a $300 cash scholarship to a graduating senior, and after reviewing scholarship applications, Josh Logsdon was chosen as this year’s recipient.
Following the business meeting, members had a plant exchange.
The new fiscal year for the L-M Garden and Civic Club will begin on September 20, and the club will continue to meet the third Monday of each month.
Anyone interested in gardening and civic affairs is invited to join.
