Museum Web site open; data on teachers' being collected

Keystone Square Museum’s Web site is open. Visit www.lampasas countymuseum.org to find out what’s going on at the museum, to see photographs of recent events, to view a list of collections and exhibits, and to find out more about the museum.

Museum personnel began working on the Web site more than a year ago with the assistance of Lampasas High School technology teacher Cathy Kuehne and her telecommunications and networking students including Kahea Brown, Travis Gilseth, Steven Gross, Michael Morales, Patrick Quintanilla, Michael Richard and Steven Rowe.

Museum volunteers provided Mrs. Kuehne and the students text and photographs, and students designed the Web site under Mrs. Kuehne’s direction.

Bob Gantt, a museum board member and volunteer, refined the site and put it online recently.

“High school students did a terrific job, and the museum needed a Web site,” said Gantt. “The Internet is how tourists find us, and it offers the public a look at what we have to offer.”

The site will be updated by volunteers.

The museum also has a Facebook page. Look for it under “Keystone Square Museum,” and post photos, comments and other items.

The museum, at 303 S. Western St., is open Mondays from 10 a.m. to noon and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Appointments can be arranged by leaving a message at 556-2224.

The committee collecting biographical information about retired teachers is uncovering interesting data.

Anyone interested in honoring former teachers may join the committee the fourth Wednesday of each month. They plan to meet next Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Keystone Square Museum.

Following is a quiz for former Lampasas ISD students.

• Who was the cheerleader and pep squad sponsor from 1968- 1989?

• Which former teacher was an Olympic torchbearer in 1996 and 2002?

• Which former teacher had parents who both taught in Lampasas and in Burnet County?

• Who was the Walmart teacher of the year in 2002?

• Which teacher taught third grade from 1957-1975? She had taught at Briggs earlier and lived in the Briggs-Oakalla area.

The answers will be shared in next month’s report to the Lampasas Dispatch Record.
