Campus in running for $10,000 prize

A music class from Kline Whitis Elementary has been chosen as one of 10 finalists in the Fruitables Search for the Best School Music Mash-Up in the nation.

The group performed “My Girl,” “My Guy,” and “What I Like About You.” The video was submitted with a short essay illustrating why the class needed the funding.

Carly Hall, a third-grader, submitted the following for her school.

“Our school should get the money because we have students here that are in poverty, but that can’t stop anyone from wanting to learn music! We love learning music and love creating music. Our town, Lampasas, is very talented and loves to sing and dance. We would spend some of the money on instruments.”

The top school will receive $10,000 for its music program. Nine runners-up will each receive $1,000. Winners, based on a national vote, will be named the week of June 1.

The public can watch the video online and cast a vote for their favorite at www.facebook.com/ AppleandEve.
