Llano County Range, Field Day slated

Llano County Range & Field Day is June 1. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Llano County Community Center on Ranch Road 152, about 1.7 miles west of Llano. Coffee and donuts will be served.

The morning session will be three 45-minute rotations. Topics and speakers follow.

• Estimating grazeable acreage for grass management, by Dr. Bob Lyons, range specialist, Texas AgriLife Extension Service, Uvalde.

• How the Farm Service Agency can help you, Randy Maenius, county executive director, FSA, Mason.

• Updates on insecticides and their application, Eugene Jordan, VE Bio Sciences, South Africa.

A barbecue lunch will be served at Schorlemmer Hall at St. James Lutheran Church, 1404 Ford St.

Afternoon topics and speakers include:

• Laws and regulations -- insecti- cide labels, Jamie Osbourn, Llano County Extension agent.

• Landowners ethics and rights, Dr. Judon Fambrough, The Real Estate Center, Texas A&M University, College Station.

Texas Department of Agriculture will offer five continuing education units for those with a pesticide applicator’s license.
