LMS artists take awards
Winning Lampasas Middle School art students included, from left, Anna Fehmel, Kaelyn Hill, Matthew Wilson, Taylor Walker and Kassidy Mason. Three of the eight state medals awarded went to local students. Lampasas Middle School art teacher Misti Harrell took five art students to the Region 12 Visual Arts Scholastic Event contest in Goldthwaite on April 24.
Students were judged on their art and a personal interview with a judge.
Each student received two superior medals on the 10 pieces of work entered. In addition, three received state medals. Only eight works of art from 100 were selected to receive a state medal.
Anna Fehmel earned two superior medals including a perfect score on one piece of art work.
Kaelyn Hill took two superior medals and one state medal, and won a still-life drawing contest at the event.
Kassidy Mason and Matthew Wilson earned two superior medals and a state medal each, and Taylor Walker was awarded two superior medals.
