PHOTO BY JIM LOWE Well, what can we say? “Operation Ugly Toilet,” a fund-raising campaign for Fort Hood Area Habitat for Humanity, has begun. These freshly painted, non-working toilets will show up at residences and businesses, and community members will be asked to donate to Habitat for Humanity or volunteer at the organization’s thrift store in Killeen to have the fixtures taken to other locations. Habitat hopes the donation cycle will generate money toward the $45,000 price of building affordable housing here. The first local recipient’s house will be constructed near Hanna Springs Elementary School.
