Food drive slated by post office

The nation’s largest annual food drive to “Stamp Out Hunger” is Saturday. Letter carriers will collect non-perishable donations from homes as they deliver mail along their routes.

The National Association of Letter Carriers Food Drive, held in conjunction with the Postal Service, will provide food to help feed families in all 50 states.

Donations from this year’s event are expected to push the overall total since the drive began over 18 years ago to more than 1 billion pounds.

Postal customers are encouraged to leave their non-perishable food donations in bags by their mailboxes for pickup by carriers.
