Support offered for library event

I want to give a great big “Thank you” to Ryan Wilson, our local HEB store manager, and his staff who helped pull together a great event for the Lampasas Public Library on April 10 at the HEB parking lot.

First of all, we did not have to approach Ryan; he offered to do this for the library. And when we asked what we -- staff and Library Foundation members -- should do, he said “Nothing.” He said they would take care of everything -- booths, games, bounce houses, food and advertising -- and we got all the rewards.

And just so you know, the HEB staff who worked this event volunteered their time; this was not part of their jobs, though they did get paid (because the event was on HEB property). They all did a great job, too - - from the guys at the Velcro wall to the face painters and cotton candy makers. You could tell the kids were having a good time, but I think the HEB staff may have had a little fun, too.

I’ve thanked Ryan several times as well as some of his staff, and they all said the same thing: “We’re glad we could do this for you.” What a great group of people!

It was a great experience, and I hope we can do this again, but for now I can’t thank him and his staff enough for their generosity. It means a lot to have this kind of support.
