Lampasas won its season finale and improved to 10-0 in district play thanks in part to pitcher Kady Crow’s (22) nohitter against Killeen Tuesday. PHOTO BY RICHARD AKRIDGE Sometimes, the second time is even sweeter.

The Lady Badgers, who already clinched their second consecutive District 25-4A championship, finally allowed themselves to celebrate the title after completing a unblemished run through the district with a 15-0 home win over Killeen Tuesday.

The victory improved Lampasas’ district record to 10-0, eclipsing last season’s impressive but tarnished 9-1 run to the championship.

“I believe this is the first time ever in softball history here at Lampasas that a team has gone 10-0 in district,” head coach Chris Munoz said. “I am proud of these girls.”

The Lady Badgers did not waste time against Killeen, as they needed just three innings to finish the job.

Sophomore pitcher Kady Crow recorded the no-hit victory by throwing five strikeouts and facing just nine batters before earning her fifth win on the mound in district.

The Lady Badgers recorded 13 hits in the abbreviated contest.

Centerfielder Tealey Farquhar led the charge by going three for three with three RBIs. She also hit her second triple in two games.

Kallen Vann, Hadley Brown and Marisa Bogart each went two for three at the plate, and Brown recorded a pair of RBIs on the evening.

Kat Strickland, Madison Morris, Crow and Shelly Holcomb combined for four hits and five RBIs.

Lampasas’ playoff fate remains in the air because the District 26- 4A picture will not be cleared up until this weekend. The fourthplace team from the district, most likely either Austin McCallum or Austin Eastside Memorial, will face the Lady Badgers in the bidistrict matchup.

The bi-district deadline is May 4, and the team is expecting to play the opening-round games April 30- May 1.

Plans for warm-up games are in the works, according to Munoz, but no teams or dates have been confirmed.
