Lady Badgers golf advances sophomore to regional meet
Lampasas sophomore Carmen Gonzales will complete her stay at the Region IV-4A golf tournament today. Carmen Gonzales couldn’t ask for a much better start to her high school career.
For the second consecutive year, the Lady Badger sophomore advanced to the Region IV-4A golf tournament. Despite posting a 90 in her final round of District 25-4A competition, Gonzales’ scores from the first two rounds were low enough to place her seventh overall with a combined 253.
Ilissa Riley-Jaggers of Hutto will join Gonzales as the individual regional qualifiers from District 25-4A at the two-day regional tournament -- scheduled to conclude today -- at Pecan Valley Golf Course in San Antonio.
Gonzales began her trek to the Alamo City two weeks ago when she shot an 82 at Shadow Glen in Manor. Last Wednesday, she followed up with a second-round 81 at Star Ranch in Hutto before clinching her regional berth at Marble Falls’ Hidden Falls course.

Brittany Graham had the team’s second-best showing with a 277 (96, 85, 96), followed by Juls Crook’s 284 (105, 97, 82). Chelsea Ragland rounded out the scoring with rounds of 104, 116 and 121 to total 341.
Lauren Davis was unable to compete in the first round but shot a 95 and a 96 over the final two rounds. Her scores, however, did not contribute to the team total.
Lake Travis won the district championship with a 922, while Hendrickson (1,089) edged out Lampasas by 20 strokes. The top two teams advanced to regionals.
At the boys’ district competition, Badger Stayton Lindeman fell one stroke shy of reaching regionals. Lampasas’ top performer posted a total score of 227 as he led the Badgers to a fourth-place finish.
Lampasas shot a combined 960 and missed third place by just three strokes to Marble Falls (957).
Lake Travis entered two teams, and both advacned to regionals. The Cavs’ top team shot a 900, and their second team totaled 925.
Lindeman finished with Lampasas’ lowest score in each round, shooting a 77, 77 and 73.
Colton Perkins (81, 83, 78) recorded the team’s second-best total of 242, while Byler Lindeman was a mere two strokes back with a three-round total of 244. Ethan Byers (247) produced rounds of 83, 80 and 84 to complete the team’s scoring.
