Farmers, ranchers must submit IRS form

Lampasas and Burnet County ranchers and farmers must keep their 2009 and 2010 FSA payments and submit AGI Verification Forms to the IRS.

Each individual and entity that received 2009 payments or who requests 2010 payments with the Farm Service Agency or Natural Resource and Conservation Service must complete a consent form and provide it to the Internal Revenue Service so compliance with adjusted gross income requirements can be verified.

It is important the consent form is completed correctly and is signed and dated. Any form submitted incorrectly or incomplete will be returned to the sender.

The form must include a complete Social Security number for an individual, or an employer identification number for a legal entity.

For entities, a consent form must be submitted by the entity and by each shareholder in such entity to the fourth level of ownership.

Individuals must file on form CCC-927, and entities should use form CCC-928. Forms are available online at www.forms.sc.egov.usda.gov or they may be obtained from any FSA office.

Submit completed forms directly to the IRS at Internal Revenue Service, USDA, P.O. Box 24033, Fresno, CA 93779.

Failure to provide the consent form to the IRS by June 15, 2010, will result in ineligibility for future FSA payments and refund of payments already received.

While FSA can assist farmers and ranchers with understanding the form, FSA is not authorized to accept completed consent forms and nor is it authorized to submit forms to the IRS on anyone’s behalf.
