At the subvarsity District 25-4A tennis tournament Tuesday, the junior varsity girls’ doubles teams dominated the 10-team field, taking first, second and third place in the division.
The tandem of Cheyenne Morrow/Becca Northrup won all three of their matches to earn the first championship of their high school careers. Unfortunately, it came at the expense of teammates Caitlyn Yates and Madison Henniger who finished second.
Nichole Queen and Aimee Aviles- Ponce placed third overall.
In boys’ doubles, Bradley Poston and Jacob Ham reached the finals before losing in a tie breaker to take second place -- their top showing of the season.
Wade Martin and Dylan Ham lost to the eventual doubles champions to finish third.
In freshman play, Kevin Robertson was third in boys’ singles, and Michael Harris/Jonah Cantu won the boys’ doubles division.
“Everyone did great, and all but two medaled,” Lampasas head coach Kenneth Peiser said. “All of them were able to keep the ball in play and played fairly aggressive.”
