In recent 27th District Court action, a motion for continuance was granted in the case of capital murder individual under 6 against Lowell Preston Garza, 20, of Lampasas. His jury trial was rescheduled to May 24.
Garza has been charged in the death of his 2-month-old daughter Isabela Preslei Garza after an autopsy report from the Dallas Medical Examiner ruled the death a homicide by blunt-force trauma.
Garza, whose trial originally was scheduled for April 26, remains in the Lampasas County Jail on a $1 million bond. He is being represented by Eddie Shell of Marble Falls.
In other district court action, Austin resident David Zepeda, 47, had his probation revoked and was sentenced to five years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Institutional Division for driving while intoxicated and felony repetition.
A two-year jail sentence was given to Jimmy Allen Beall, 38, for possession/transport of a chemical with intent to manufacture a controlled substance.
Lampasas resident Daniel Caleb Gerhart, 22, had his probation revoked, and he was sentenced to six months in county jail for burglary of a building. He was credited with jail time served.
Bond was increased to $100,000, and a warrant was issued for the arrest of 39-year-old Anthony Maher of Dickinson, N.D., when he failed to show up for court on a charge of criminal non-support.
Five years’ deferred adjudication probation was given to Henry Oneal Andrews, 40, of Kempner for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He must pay a $500 fine and perform 200 hours of community service.
Jill Bowen Burrows, 38, of Richland Springs had her indictment amended to endangering a child. She received three years’ deferred adjudication probation and a $500 fine.
Pretrial hearings are on the April 23 docket for Marshall Lester Wethy, 60, of Kempner for deadly conduct discharge of a firearm in a habitation/building or vehicle; and Paul Thomas Hughes, 41, of Lometa for misapplication of fiduciary/financial institution property over $20,000 and under $100,000. Hughes also faces a bench trial for criminal non-support.
For hindering a secured creditor, Jason Dwayne Lamb, 36, of Pflugerville is set for an April 23 hearing.
Arraignment is April 23 for 42- year-old Laura Suzanne Weaver for theft over $1,500 and under $20,000.
Travis Ray Turley, 37, of Dublin is expected to enter a plea May 7 on a charge of theft over $1,500 and under $20,000.
Pretrial hearings are slated May 7 for John Angus McDonald, 34, of Gillett for possession of marijuana over four ounces and under five pounds, and Killeen resident Russell Lawrence Brown, 37, for criminal non-support.
A May 7 arraignment is scheduled for Kimbrough Fred Estes, 40, of Houston for criminal nonsupport.
And Tomas Santiago Jr., 47, of Kempner is expected to enter a plea June 11 for driving while intoxicated, third or more.
