USAA lauds Lometans' granddaughter

The United States Achievement Academy has announced that Ana- Julissa “Ani” Gomez of Idabel, Okla., has been recognized by the USAA as a student of excellence in English.

This is an honor only few students can hope to attain. In fact, the academy recognizes fewer than 10 percent of all American high school students.

Ani, who attends Denison Public School, was nominated for the honor by Crystal Davis, a teacher at the school. She will appear in the USAA’s official yearbook published nationally.

“Recognizing and supporting our youth is more important than ever before in America’s history,” said Dr. George Stevens, USAA founder. “USAA students should be congratulated and appreciated for their dedication to excellence and achievement.”

The academy recognizes students upon the recommendation of teachers, coaches, counselors and other qualified sponsors and upon the standards of selection set forth by the academy which include academic performance, interest and aptitude, leadership qualities, responsibility, enthusiasm, motivation to learn and improve, attitude and cooperative spirit, dependability and recommendation from a qualified sponsor.

Ani is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Jose Gomez of Idabel. She is the granddaughter of Jesus and Juanita Gomez of Dallas, and Jose and Francisca Rodriguez of Lometa.
