Badgers shut out by Hawks
Lampasas catcher James Boultinghouse sheds his mask as he attempts to record an out during the Badgers’ 12-0 loss at Hendrickson Friday. PHOTO BY RICHARD AKRIDGE The Badgers could not afford to slip up at all against Class 4A’s fourth-best baseball team.
Unfortunately, they did.
Hendrickson took advantage of three Lampasas errors and produced 15 hits en route to a 12-0 shutout victory at home Friday evening.
The loss drops the Badgers to 4- 20 on the year with an 0-6 District 25-4A record.
Lampasas recorded just two hits in the game as the Hawks (20-3) extended their untarnished district winning streak to six games.
Following a two-run first inning, Hendrickson tacked on another run in the second to go up 3-0 before exploding for eight runs in the third.
Pitcher Brandon Evetts picked up the loss for Lampasas.
The Badgers return to their home diamond tonight to face Lake Travis (4-2 district).
Earlier this season, the Cavaliers shut out Lampasas 10-0 in Austin. Since then, however, the preseason top 10 team has lost a pair of road games by one run to Hendrickson and Marble Falls.
