LHS GOLF

Both of Lampasas’ varsity golf teams played the first round of District 25-4A competition Tuesday at the Shadow Glen Golf Club in Manor.

The Badgers shot an openinground score of 325 and are in third place overall, sitting 10 strokes behind Lake Travis’ second team. Lake Travis also holds the top spot after shooting a 308.

Stayton Lindeman is tied for fourth overall with a firstround score of 77 and is currently the second medalist. Should he maintain the position, he will advance to regionals.

Thanks in part to Carmen Gonzales’ opening-round score of 82, the Lady Badgers are sitting in third place with a total of 387. Lampasas’ second team shot a combined score of 529 and is in fifth place.

Round two of the district tournament will be held Wednesday at Star Ranch in Hutto, and the final round will be played the following day at Hidden Falls in Marble Falls.

GOLF

The Lampasas County Chamber of Commerce Foundation will sponsor the 14th annual Golf Classic at Hancock Park April 18.

The three-person scramble will begin with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Entry fee is $50.
