Water groups plan meetings
Several meetings are scheduled in the next few weeks for Lampasas River Watershed Partnership work groups.
Work groups are volunteer teams offering expertise in a variety of areas as part of efforts to improve the quality of water in the Lampasas River watershed.
At the upcoming meetings, the first draft of land use analyses will be presented.
Participants also will discuss preliminary inputs for a SELECT computer model to estimate pollutant sources and amounts. Other work-group specific topics include livestock, septic systems and feral hogs, and their locations within the watershed.
The habitat and wildlife work group will meet Monday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Lampasas County Farm Bureau building.
The wastewater infrastructure work group will meet April 19 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in Council Chambers behind City Hall. The Agriculture Issues Work Group will gather from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Farm Bureau building.
Another Lampasas meeting will be held April 20 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., when the outreach and education group will meet in Council Chambers.
In addition, the Urban/Suburban Issues Work Group will meet April 21 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the city of Killeen solid waste building, located at 2003 Little Nolan Road.
Meetings are open to the public, regardless of whether participants signed up in advance.
