Mrs. McMahan

Ruth Kirby Parmer McMahan of Lometa died April 2, 2010, at Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple. She was 82.

Funeral services were April 5 at the Lometa Church of Christ with Darnell Boyd and Art Kirby officiating.

Burial was at Senterfitt Cemetery at Lometa.

Mrs. McMahan was born July 9, 1927, in Lometa, to John Lawson Parmer and Mildred Leigh Kirby Parmer.

She married Foy McMahan on July 3, 1947, in Lometa, and lived in Lometa all of her life.

Mrs. McMahan was a retired school teacher and was affiliated with the Church of Christ.

Survivors include her sons and their wives, Mike and Keryn McMahan of Goldthwaite, Pat and Cheryl McMahan of San Antonio, and Rock and Sue McMahan of Austin; and six grandchildren, Chuck Flournoy and Kristi of Houston, Chris McMahan and Szuzsika of Baltimore, Md., and Eryn McMahan, Meredith McMahan, Jeremy McMahan and Mabric McMahan, all of Austin.

Others include two great-grandchildren, Paige Flournoy and Hilton Flournoy of Houston; a brother and his wife, Dale and Cullene Parmer of Temple; a sonin law Jim Gunning of Dallas; sisters in-law, Johnnie Ray Seale of Corpus Christi, and Charlotte Fortenberry of Slidell, Texas; a brother-in-law and his wife, Bob and Lena Massingill of Hope, Ark.; and three nieces.

She was preceded in death by her husband, and by a daughter, Linda McMahan Gunning.

Pallbearers were Bill Ladyman, David Potts, David Torrez, Julio Aguilar, William Hall and Aubrey Rogers.

Honorary pallbearers were Weldon Kirby and Everett A. Kirby.
