Mr. Davis

Funeral services were held in Lafayette, Colo., for Earl Wayne Davis, 69. He died March 18, 2010, in Lafayette of congestive heart failure.

Mr. Davis was born May 13, 1940, in Lampasas, the son of Dorman Earl (Buck) and Esther Nordstrom Davis.

While in school, he worked at Piggly Wiggly and Sargent’s Drug Store. He graduated from Lampasas High School in 1958 and attended Southwest Texas State University.

During the summers, beginning in 1954, Mr. Davis worked in Colorado on his grandfather’s farm with his three uncles. In 1959, he moved to Colorado and worked for the next 41 years milking, raising stock and cattle, and growing hay, corn, wheat and barley.

On Nov. 11, 1961, he married Sandra Lewis.

Mr. Davis enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sports games as well as Colorado University football games.

In 1999, he retired from farming, and he and his wife traveled in their motor home in the West and Midwest, visiting friends and family. They visited Lampasas once or twice each year. They spent several months each year in Yuma, Ariz.

He is survived by his wife of Lafayette and Yuma; children, Diann and husband, Charles Myers of Firestone, Colo., Wayne and Leslie Davis, and Donna and Mike Schwab, all of Erie, Colo., and Denise and Cornelius Ledbetter of Broomfield, Colo.; grandchildren, Lance Cpl. Matthew Myers of Washington, D.C., and Sarah Myers, Dalton Davis, Kelsey Schwab, Severn Davis, Joseph Schwab, Desmond Ledbetter and Megahn Schwab, all of Colorado; and two step-grandchildren, Jacob and Danielle Lichentenwalner of Colorado.

He was preceded in death by several aunts, uncles and cousins, including Clifford Davis of Red Level, Ala., Dolph Moten of Copperas Cove, and Don Alexander of Lampasas.
