LHS golf building momentum heading into district competition

The Lady Badgers were feeling pretty good about their games after picking up a tournament championship in Kerrville, but at the Moody Spring Invitational in San Antonio they took a step back, breaking 100 just three times in a combined nine rounds.
Making matters worse, Mackenzie Martin was forced to withdraw from the tournament after tearing her MCL. She will miss the remainder of the season.
With the disappointing weekend behind them, the Lady Badgers began snapping back into shape at the Fredericksburg tournament Monday by placing sixth with a score of 379.
Carmen Gonzales led the team by shooting an 85, while teammates Brittany Graham (94) and Juls Crook (95) finished within one stroke of each other.
Chelsea Ragland posted a 105, and Olivia Everhart -- who was brought up from the junior varsity team -- shot a 113.
District foe Marble Falls (371) tied for second at the Fredericksburg tournament, finishing behind the host school (354) and equaling Comfort (371).
The Badgers capped off their nondistrict schedule at the Joe Balander Memorial Tournament in Austin last week and shot a 343 at the Jimmy Clay Golf Course.
Led by Stayton Lindeman’s team-low 80, all five Badgers shot a 96 or lower.
Byler Lindeman recorded an 82, and Colton Perkins finished with an 88. Vann Millican (93) and Ethan Byers (96) rounded out the team.
Both Lampasas teams open with the first of three district rounds Tuesday at Shadowglen Golf Course in Manor. The second and third rounds will be played on April 14 and 15, respectively.
