Mrs. Matchen

Martha Bernice Matchen, 88, of Lampasas died March 30, 2010, at Spring Oaks Nursing & Rehab.

Graveside services are April 2 at 11 a.m. at Nix Cemetery with Bruce Crawford officiating.

Visitation will precede the service from 8:30-10 a.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel.

Mrs. Matchen was born May 28, 1921, in Doss, the daughter of John Francis and Wilhelmina Baegthe Faught.

She married John Henry Matchen on Oct. 1, 1948, in Stephenville.

Mrs. Matchen was a fourth-generation member of Primitive Bap- tist Church. She had been a resident of Lampasas for many years.

She was an accomplished quilter and enjoyed baking bread and sweets. She was a homemaker and later in life was a private sitter for several local families.

Survivors include four daughters and their husbands, Carolyn and Scott Krueger of Keller, Connie and Tim Hendrix and Kay and Joe Gill, all of Lampasas, and Martha and Lane Pinckney of Ballinger; three sons, Billy Utley and wife, Tami, of Oxford, Mich., Monroe Matchen and wife, Paula, of Sweetwater, and Mark Matchen of Burnet; three brothers, Norman Faught of Hobbs, N.M., Albert Faught of Stockton, and John Faught of Midland; two sisters, Ty Tankersley of San Angelo, and Josephine Bear of Naruna; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; by two sisters, Oveeda Gardner and Edith Buckley; and by a brother, Nolan Faught.

Memorials may be made to the Library Foundation of Lampasas Texas or Nix Cemetery Association.
