LHS JV softball wins Gatesville tournament

In addition to going 3-0 in the tournament, the Lady Badgers also picked up a district victory against Lake Travis over the weekend. The Lady Badgers’ junior varsity softball team did a lot over the weekend.

A lot of winning.

Lampasas claimed three victories over two days to win the Gatesville tournament title Saturday. The squad also found time to travel to Austin and beat Lake Travis 12-2.

The weekend marathon began last Thursday in Gatesville where Lampasas defeated Shoemaker 6-5 to advance to Saturday’s second round of play.

Following a sound beating of the Lady Cavs the following evening, Lampasas returned to Gatesville where it clinched the tournament title with wins over host school Gatesville, 3-1, and Temple, 6-3.

Offensively, Michaela Hensiek went four for six during the tournament, recording a single, two doubles, a triple and four runs. Chasity Kettinger also had a solid showing at the plate, going three for six and scoring two runs.

On the mound, pitcher Kelsi Gilseth picked up all three victories, allowing a total of just nine runs.

The freshman produced at the plate as well with two singles and two doubles. She also added three runs.

Lampasas will look to continue its winning ways tonight as it hosts Marble Falls before playing at Killeen Thursday. Both games are scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
