• oppose Democratic healthcare legislation
“Therefore be it resolved that we oppose any legislation that imposes government control over our healthcare, increased government mandates or price controls, new government programs or the expansion of existing programs; we also urge passage of healthcare reform that results in more affordable healthcare through a competitive, open and transparent system including tort reform where America’s families choose their own doctor and healthcare plans. If the healthcare bill is passed, we resolve that all means possible be used to revoke the healthcare bill.
• illegal immigration
“We urge all levels of the federal government to provide for the security of our nation by controlling and securing our borders and enforce all immigration laws, including laws directed at employers who knowingly hire illegal immigrants.
• government spending
“Therefore be it resolved that we call on President Barack Obama and Congress to stop deficit spending now and to stop pushing new government programs in the name of saving our economy. We call on them to balance the budget and remember the taxpayers of today and those of tomorrow who will be called on to pay back trillions of dollars in federal debt.
• budget limits
“Therefore be it resolved that subsequent year budgets shall not exceed revenue collected during the previous fiscal year.”
• education spending
“In pursuit of improving education, therefore be it resolved that no increases in public funding be made except in support of core academic activities.”
• government “czars”
“Whereas, President Obama has appointed more than 40 “czars” who were never elected, never confirmed by the Senate, and have immense power over our government and our lives, and Whereas, they enjoy wide-ranging bureaucratic authority beyond the purview of Congress, Therefore be it resolved that we urge Congress to use its full constitutional authority to abolish these czars and return this country to the republic upon which it was founded.
• “Cap-and-trade” bill to require the purchase of pollution permits before releasing carbon emissions
“We urge the Senate to defeat this unconstitutional grab for power and open up America’s vast natural resources for energy independence and economic growth, thereby eliminating dependence on China, Russia, Saudi Arabia and other foreign countries for our energy needs.”
• Defense of Marriage Act
“Therefore be it resolved, we oppose any effort by the Obama administration to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act and urge Congress to use its Article III, Section 2 power to prevent activist federal judges from imposing upon the rest of the nation the judicial activism seen in Massachusetts and California.
• oppose Planned Parenthood funding
“Whereas, Planned Parenthood is the nation’s leading abortion performer and promoter, we urge all federal, state and local officials, and other community leaders, to oppose any public funding for Planned Parenthood, its activities in schools and communities, and the expansion of its facilities in Texas neighborhoods.”
• U.S. sovereignty “Whereas, the governor, senators and state representatives of Texas swear an oath to the Constitution of the United States and not to the United Nations, nor any new world order ... which have nothing to do with governing Texas, creating legislation for Texas or enriching Texas, Therefore be it resolved that elected representatives should make known to their constituents their reasons for becoming members of or attending meetings of these organizations and what benefit it will bring to Texas.”
• certification of natural born citizenship
“Be it resolved that a presidential or vice presidential candidate shall submit to the Texas Secretary of State a certified copy of the birth certificate of each candidate, thereby establishing the natural born citizenship requirement of Article II, Section I of the United States Constitution. If a candidate does not provide proof of citizenship, their name will not be put on the ballot.”
• proposed 28th amendment to the U.S. Constitution
“Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the senators and/or representatives.”
• judicial nominees
“Therefore be it resolved that the Republican Party supports, without compromise, only judicial nominees who are strict constitutionalists.”
• eliminate funding for Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now
“Therefore be it resolved that the defunding of ACORN or any organizations previously funded as an ACORN organization should become permanent, and a thorough criminal investigation of the organization’s activities be initiated.”
• disband IRS and replace current tax code with a national sales tax
