Lowell Preston Garza, 20, of Kempner is set for an April 26 jury trial for capital murder individual under age 6 and injury to a childserious bodily injury.

Charges stem from the death of his two-month-old daughter, Isabela Preslei Garza, after an autopsy report from the Dallas medical examiner ruled the death a homicide by blunt-force trauma.

Garza remains in jail on a $1 million bond.

In more recent 27th District Court action, 23-year-old Richard Castaneda was given two 20-year sentences in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Institutional Division for two counts of burglary of a habitation. He was credited with jail time served.

Killeen resident Wayne Joseph Persick, 58, received six years in the TDCJID for driving while intoxicated, third or more.

A five-year punishment in the TDCJID was given to Robert Zamora Ayala, 43, for bail jumping/ failure to appear, and he received two years for injury to a child. Ayala was credited with jail time served.

For possession of a controlled substance-methamphetamine, Larry D. Johnson, 41, was ordered to serve six months in the Lampasas County Jail.

Bond was increased to $15,000, and an arrest warrant was issued for Katina Jean Ayala of Lampasas when she failed to show up for court on a charge of driving while intoxicated with a child passenger.

Robert Allen McCullough, 41, of Copperas Cove was found to have violated his parole and was given 10 years’ probation. He was ordered to attend a substance abuse program.

Ginger Teresa Griffin, 30, of Lampasas received three years’ deferred adjudication probation and a $250 fine for injury to a child/ elderly/disabled with intent to bodily harm.

Jury trials are on Monday’s docket for Daniel Scott Somers, 18, of Lampasas for evading arrest/ detention with a vehicle; Joab Fuentes, 24, of Kempner for possession of a controlled substance less than one gram; James Benedict Abell, 43, of Lometa for delivery of a controlled substance; Jared Blake Edmondson, 27, of Lometa for online solicitation of a minor, sex conduct and sexual assault of a child; Austin Cullen Smith, 20, of Lampasas for possession of marijuana over four ounces and under five pounds; and Danny Lee Hurt, 48, of Lampasas for indecency with a child, sexual contact.

Arraignments are set April 9 for Kimbrough Fred Estes, 40, of Houston for criminal nonsupport, and Russell Lawrence Brown, 37, of Killeen for criminal nonsupport.

A pretrial hearing on the April 9 docket is planned for John Angus McDonald, 34, of Gillett for possession of marijuana over four ounces and under five pounds.

For driving while intoxicated with a child under 15 years old, Michael James Morton, 22, of Lampasas is expected to enter a plea May 7.

Sentencing is May 7 for Juan Jose Cortez, 41, of Nolanville for driving while intoxicated and felony repetition, and a motion to revoke for bond jumping; and Janice Kay Crusan, 48, of Lampasas for driving while intoxicated with a child under 15 years of age.

A punishment hearing is on tap May 7 for Sara Elizabeth Dickison, 28, of Lometa for improper relationship between educator/student.

May 14 sentencing is slated for Blair Duane Wright, 42, of Buena Vista, Colo., for driving while intoxicated with a child passenger and for bond jumping.

A plea is to be entered May 14 by Lemuel Eugene Shaw, 63, of Copperas Cove for sexual perform child employ induce/authorize.

Lampasas resident John Wayne Savage Jr., 39, is set to enter a plea May 21 for driving while intoxicated with a child under 15 years of age.

A June 28 jury trial is slated for Joel Gutierrez, 40, of Lake Worth, Fla., on a charge of theft over $1,500 and under $20,000.

Because her bond was found to be insufficient, an arrest warrant was issued for Audi Elizabeth Henry, 30, of Kempner to allow the judge to issue a higher bond. She is charged with evading arrest with a vehicle.

The state dismissed a hindering a secured creditor charge against 56- year-old Marble Falls resident Delbert Ebbin Cloud.
