PHOTO BY DAVID LOWE This several-hundred-years-old live oak tree came crashing down on Gregory Westerfield’s West Fourth Street home Saturday after high winds associated with strong thunderstorms passed through the city. Westerfield, who said the tree was about 60 feet tall, was out of town when it toppled on his house. On Monday morning, pieces of the tree were cut and removed so home damage could be assessed.
