Mrs. Hale

Funeral services for Mildred May Hale, 90, of Lampasas were March 22 at Sneed Funeral Chapel with Lance Sneath officiating. Burial followed at Smith School Creek Cemetery.

Mrs. Hale died March 18 at Metroplex Hospital in Killeen.

She was born Aug. 20, 1919, in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico, the daughter of August and Monserate I. Pabon Knipps.

She married Clifton Hale on Feb. 17, 1956, in Las Cruces, N.M.

Mrs. Hale was a medical secretary for 11 years. She then worked for the Veterans Administration and retired from the VA Hospital in Albuquerque, N.M., in 1978.

She was a member of Central Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Lampasas.

Survivors include her husband of Lampasas; four daughters, Deanna Lee Park and husband, Leon, of Winnsboro, S.C., Lena Marie Brooks of Houston, Sandra Maurine Bridges and husband, Wes, of Whitehouse, and Jennifer Scribner of Lampasas; a son, David Morris Brooks and wife, Donna, of Oakland, Calif.; a sister, Barbara Gladys Melendez of El Paso; two brothers, August Joseph Knipps of El Paso, and William Kermit Knipps of Torrance, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; 18 greatgrandchildren; and three greatgreat grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Johnny; a granddaughter, Susan; and a greatgranddaughter, Kathryn.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
